Hudson Valley CISM Team Services

On Scene Support
Requested by the incident commander or his/her liaison, for stress management support of emergency personnel during the incident.

One-on-One Special Requests
Assistance to emergency workers showing obvious signs of distress and need to process normal stress reactions.

Demobilization
Stress Management Awareness provided to personnel being disengaged from the scene after a large-scale disaster.

Defusing
Usually occurs within hours of the incident to offer information, support, to set up orestablish the need for a formal debriefing, and to stabilize crew members so they can go home or back in service.

Critical Incident Stress Debriefing (CISD)
Occurs within 24-72 hours after the incident. It is a confidential discussion of involvement thoughts and experiences resulting from the incident. It is a confidential discussion of involvement thoughts and experiences resulting from the incident.

Education
Stress and CISM awareness training for emergency service personnel and supervisors.

Individual Referrals
Team approved mental health professionals are available for follow-up and referral to long-term counseling when necessary.

Family Support Services
For family members and significant others for those involved in critical incidents.
